Kitchen Time Saving Ideas

Holiday Stress is overwhelming and at our Make, Bake and Save Workshop I shared my 10 Kitchen Time Saving Ideas to help you avoid those last minute crunches.  For those of you that couldn’t make it, here are the tips.

Kitchen Time Saving Ideas

#1 Meal Planning –  This is crucial!   Planning your meals will save you time.  You won’t have to worry about figuring out what is for dinner .

#2 Stockpiling  Can you imagine going to a restaurant and the restaurant not having a stockpile on hand.  When you came in and ordered,  they’d have to run out to the grocery store buy all of the items then run back to make your order?  If a restaurant did that they wouldn’t have a very successful business now would they?  By knowing what you are having for dinner for the week and having your stock on hand will save you tons of time and eliminate the stress of what’s for dinner.

#3 Cooking Ahead — Chicken, Ground Beef, Pasta and Rice –   Want to save time on making dinner?  Start cooking ahead!  How many shows do you watch that are 30 mins long?  I know we are tired and just want to relax and usually we’ll catch a show or two to do that.  We’ll in about 30 minutes, you can cook chicken, ground beef and pasta and that’ll make it super simple in getting dinner ready the next day.  You’ve just saved yourself 30 minutes of time and the meals you can make with that will be in less time than ordering out for Pizza or Chinese Food usually takes about 20 minutes before you can pick it up.  You won’t have to do that anymore.  You can do this in bulk too, then either freeze it or stick it in the fridge.  By having your ground beef and pasta cooked ahead of time – you can have a spaghetti dinner on the table in about 10 minutes.

#4 Easy Meals –   Some of the easy meals I make in about 10 minutes by having these items cooked in advance are:

  • Chicken Caesar Salad
  • Beef Tacos
  • Chicken Fajitas
  • Burritos
  • Sloppy Joes
  • BBQ Chicken Sandwhiches

# 5 Chopping Veggies—ahead of time is another life saver.  If I know that I’m going to make tacos later in the week.  I’ll chop up the lettuce, tomatoes  onions and this way all I have to do is heat up the taco meat and dinner is on the table in just a few moments.

Join me tomorrow as I share with you the remaining 5 Kitchen Time Saving Ideas.

  1. These are great ideas, Gina. I guess for me, the biggest thing that saves me time is having either food already prepared in the freezer or having it in the fridge ready to take out at mealtime – just needing to be reheated.

Also, keeping meals simple works for our family. We do have more fun and elaborate meals for birthdays and holidays or even on weekends sometimes, but mainly we keep it simple. 🙂
