I love Pallet Signs. Making them yourself is pretty easy too. With a few nails and paint you can really transform those old pallets. First, let me just say, don’t focus on getting the best pallet. Sometimes the crappier ones end up being the coolest to use. Especially if you are going for the burnt pallet sign look.
As long as you can align the boards to stay together. You’ll be in pretty good shape. Here’s how the back of mine looks. I screwed into each piece on both the right and left side of the pallet. Then I added a piece of wood at the top and attached a sawtooth frame backing making it really simple to hang on the wall.
The one tricked we used to really make our pallet sign stand out was a butane torch. We burned the wood in several places. Especially on the broken pieces. Torching them make the pieces much more beautiful. (Note: I burned the wood prior to stenciling.)
Then using a stencil – I normally make my own. To make your own, just use the paint or word software on your computer. Enlarge the letters to your liking then print them. Then cut the letter out and trace them onto your wood

After you’ve traced your letters, grab some paint and fill them in. I used leftover ceiling paint.
This project didn’t cost me a thing. Everything I had we already had on hand.
