Next I sewed a 1.5 in seam, I pinned it so you can see the width of the seam and where the stitching would be.
Now fold over the remaining part of towel and cut off the excess. Try to get as close to the seam as possible. (The reason I did this was because their wasn’t enough of the towel to fold it over and stitch the seam under)
Now sew a zig zag stick over top of the part, you cut off. This way the towel will not fray. (Make sure not to sew over the top or bottom of the opening.
The next thing I did, was to turn the apron frontside and flip the bottom of the apron up to make pockets.
Cut a piece of fabric and stitch it right under the towel seam This way it already has the finished edge. Attach the fabric wrong side up this way when you fold the fabric down, you dont have to cut it. You can just fold it under to create a perfect line.
Then, tuck the sides and bottom and stitch a straight line. Now you’ll want to sew the width of your pockets. I went about 1/3 from the right and left side and sewed a straight stitch.
Now all you need is the tie.. and what’s great about this, is it’ll be adjustable for anyone to wear.
Cut at least two strips about 2 inches wide from the fold of your fabric The length will be extremely long as these pieces are to go around your neck and waistline
.
Join the pieces together front side facing eachother
Now iron about an inch on each side. Then fold in half. Then sew a straight line about 1/2 inch on the right and left side of the fold. This will prevent the material from bending
Feed this through the openings on the backside and you should have your finished product! Yea! For added fun, I cut out the first letter of the name and attached it to the front and went around the edges with a zig zag stitch.
Aren’t this just the cutest things? It took me about an hour to make and was a great way for me to give a personalized gift without having to pinch the budget!
