One way to save is to make your own dishwasher detergent and you can do so by using most of the ingredients you already have in your home.
DIY Homemade Dishwasher Detergent
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup Kosher Salt
- 1 cup of Borax
- 1 cup of Baking Soda
- 2 packets of Lemonade Kool-aid
Instructions
- Add all ingredients in a container and mix well.
- Ingredients will eventually start sticking together so make sure to give the jar a stir each time you use it.
- Use 1/2-1 TBSP per load. If you have soft water use less.
One thing with homemade dish washing detergent that you’ll find, is that your dishes may come out cloudy and have left over residue on them. This will happen after several uses. However to avoid this, you MUST use a rinse aid, like Jet Dry. But don’t spend the cost on Jet Dry. We’re all trying to be frugal here.. so use Vinegar instead!
Now it’ll just cost pennies to do the dishes .
