My girlfriends daughter just celebrated her 2nd birthday. This baby girl holds a special place in my heart because we prayed for this child to be born and God answered our prayer. With that being said, when it comes to her birthday I can’t help to be involved. Last year was a Dr. Seuss Party and this year was
Frozen.
I’ve deemed myself as her personal cake decorator. I wanted to make her an Elsa cupcake cake so of course I looked at Pinterest for some inspiration.
Don’t let the image fool you. Making this is Frozen Elsa Cupcake Cake is simpler than you think. Just bake 31 cupcakes any flavor of your choice.
Then shaped the cake into a dress.
You can buy store bought icing, but I find making icing from scratch is easier. I made Wilton’s butter cream frosting recipe. Once the batch was made, I reserved some of the white frosting to use for the top part of the dress. Then to make the blue frosting, I slowly added some of Wilton’s Royal Blue Gel Icing until I got the desired blue I wanted.
When it came to frosting the cupcake cake, I used a pastry bag and star tip 21 and frosted the cupcakes in a circular motion starting from the center. I continued to do that for the entire cake.
Note: As for the next step, since most of the stuff I used was purchased at my local Michaels store. Since I don’t have the exact items to show you of what was purchased I’m recommending like items I found on Amazon.
Once the cake was frosted. I added some Wilton Sparkling Sugar, or you may like their White Cake Sparkles instead.
Then I used ribbon to bling up the dress. Glitter ribbon or Crystal ribbon would work just as well.
Then I added paper snowflakes all around the dress. But you could add snowflake rings or Iridescent snowflakes
and then I added more sticker snowflakes on the outside of the cake board.
Of course the dress wouldn’t be complete without a tiara. I used this light up gem tiara but for a few cents more you can pick up a tiara and magic wand.
Oh and don’t forget to print all of your free Frozen activity printables. These are for older kids and a perfect addition to treat bags.
