We made Homemade Halloween Costumes instead of buying store bought ones. I wanted to challenge myself to see how much we could actually make their costumes for. Since purchasing costumes for 3 kids can be quite expensive, especially when the costumes they wanted were about $20 – $30 each. I don’t know about you but I always liked homemade Halloween costumes better because they were original.
Our homemade Halloween Costumes that year we made a gnome costume, zombie costumer and a boxer costume. The total we spent for all of these costumes was $17.00 I saved about $43 – $73 Yay!!
Heres how I saved…
For the gnome costume – we picked up the shirt at a thrift store for $2 and then bought the red felt and faux fur at Michaels. I used 40% off coupons. Total spent was $5 to make the hat and beard.
For the zombie costume – we used old clothes and paint we had around the house. All we purchased was the makeup and hair color overall cost $3.00
For the boxer – we actually got lucky. We found boxing shorts, gloves and the tee at the thrift store for a total cost of $7.00
So with just a little creativity you can definitely save on costumes.
If making your costumes isn’t your forte… you can still grab some great deals on Halloween Costumes.
Do you normally make your costumes or purchase them?
