How to stop tears in jeans from growing came to mind because my kids go through so many jeans. They are rough on the knees and when a slight tear happens… the next thing you know that small tear, turns into a big tear and we’re off to the store to buy another pair of jeans.
I don’t mind a small hole in the jeans, they almost look as if they were intended. So as soon as my kids get a small tear in jeans I use this no sew method to fix them right up.
I use Iron-On Patches. You can get similar ones on Amazon. Or head to Walmart or your nearest fabric store to buy some.
I remember the days when my mother used to iron these patches on the front side of my jeans. I hated the way it looked. They never matched and it just looked awful. However patching holes in jeans is still the way to go. I just turn the jeans inside out.
I pick a patch and set my iron to high and just iron on the patch.
After turn the jeans right side in and look you can’t even see the patch. The tear in jeans looks decorative and the hole in the jeans will not grow.
My kids can wear their jeans for many more months, saving me money! This technique can be used not only for tears in jeans but in pants/shorts too.
